Formation shanking followed by binge drinking morrismen and a parade of chavs in matching Burberry swearing at the Queen, ending with a live performance of Rockstar by TC.

Joking, the UK has quite a bit of its own culture to be proud of.

I'm in Beijing right now and was at the Olympic Satdium for the opening ceremony, that's why I ain't been online for a few days.

The drummers doing the human LCD screen was insane, especially when they were counting down the numbers in both roman numerals and chinese characters.
The guys in the boxes making waves and concave/convex shapes was also crazy. I loved the dancers who were drawing the picture on the giant piece of parchment, that was really sick.
One funny part was whenever Bush was shown on the overhead, a lot of people in the stadium started booing, which made me lol.

I'll post some pictures soon (y)

Yeah I saw it - was off work feeling a bit rough so stayed in and watched it...

As an AV showcase it was spectacular, there is just no way we are gonna be able to top that in 2012!

although i did hear from someone who was there that it looked better on tv cos it was directed by a movie director and he aimed it more at the television audience... thoughts?

I did hear there were actually a couple of parts of the ceremony that had to be CG'd, although they could have done it for real they chose to CG them as it wouldn't have looked as good if they had tried to film it...

Either way it was one fucking amazing show, which makes such a brilliant and unexpected change from the usual snore fest that the opening ceremony is!
