Hope England can pull it together this year and win the Ashes, especially after their recent dissapointing performances. Can't deal with all my aussie mates ribbing me for being a bloody pom.
I'll be down at BlueSky with all the other brit/aussie expats watching it on the bigscreen, cold brew in hand and waiting for the shit to kick off at the end.
Believe me, drunk brits and drunk aussies watching the Ashes in the same pub is a recipe for disaster.

ok this might be a stupid question but its been plaguing me for a while...

    who's ashes are they?
are there really 'ashes' in that container?
i mean, are they playing for the right to keep a jar full of dead mans dust?
or is it like ash from the fire of london or the ash wednesday bush fires?

why is it called the ashes?

I think the first time Australia beat England, someone pronounced the death of English cricket and the stumps were burnt in memory. Or something odd, thats why England holds onto them.

IIRC In the urn is either the bails from the final Test between them, or an article "The Obituary of English Cricket" which was written when the BBQ Bummin Bastards first beat us.

As for this test, once the boys overcome their nerves (can you imagine the Oz team coach being almost silent on the way to the first test?) I think they`ll settle in alright. Just I fear it could be a case of too little to late'.

I blame the media for piling up expectations on the team when the last Ashes was decided on such a small margin and England haven't beaten Oz away for many years now :(

Shit I thought more would be talking about the Ashes.

The first test for England was abismal. WTF is wrong with the selectors, why didn't they put Monty on? Shocking display but was only the first test, England always play a shocker of a first.

And right I am too, because the dynamic duo KP and Colly are proper fighting. Even Warne seems to be getting a bit agitated. England 375/3 with Colly 154 and Pieterson 111

at 3/379 England have to keep pushing. I love seeing Warne get pissed off

I just remembered what I need to do this afternoon, thanks Indi. first test was appalling for England and thats why its a bit muted I think, plus we've only just started hey. whole summer to come ....

I love seeing Warne pissed off too, quite rewarding actually :teeth:

But its the same as last time though, England flop on the first test, Australia relax and we take the dust.

That last bowl from Warne was pretty decent though.
