That (now slightly cliche) trumpet sound

Can anyone help me out trying to get that dark raspy trumpet/bone sound. All the samples I've tried and distorted sound too thin and synthetic. Is just a case of hunting down a suitable sample?

I know there are afew kontakt libraries that have sounds like that.

Yeah Kontakt's Session Horns sounds ok. Compression and eq + saturation can help with the thiness. Example please.

do you mean them hip hop/dirty south horns? I think its a bit of artificial sound in there as well

Dunno but I reckon vocoding with a saw, adding chorus and a touch of verb would provide a nice layer.
