First, its good to be back :)

If it goes through dont they see the internet wont work? We wouldnt be able to put links on here to anything- would that include youtube video links?

I may have to go educate myself on these matters...

SOPA/PIPA are pretty much dead anyway, but ACTA is the EU version and is extremely close to being passed, in fact it might have been passed today.

But yes, any copyright owner who deems a website infringes their copyright, can take it to court and force ISPs to block access to it.

Im sure this forum would be fine, unless record labels turn into massive cunts and get us blocked for having mixes on it.... but Im sure that wouldnt happen... right?

ACTA was passed. But it doesnt change anything really. Just gives them more powers to shut down sites... not censor.

Lol, mate, it gives them way more power than that.
Like i said, its not what they plan to do now that worries me, its the power its given them to do things in the future.

Like the anti-terrorism laws, started out good in theory, now they can just detain anyone they want for ages without proof. And im pretty sure it'll go further...

It never stops at what people intend to do, they realise the potential they have to increase power and they take it.

I believe it's all to do with censorship and they couldn't give a rats ass about copy right protection.

Governments always want more power and influence.

For all you legalise cannabis crew. Check out ukcia.org I used to spend hours on that site. I even was even a whistle blower for them on 2 occasions . So many well written responses to the propaganda spread by our government.
Although I don't smoke anymore I still believe legalisation and taxation of weed would do alot more good than harm to this country.

    from the European Commission website...

■ACTA is not about checking or monitoring private communication on the internet and it will not censor websites. It is not about how individual citizens use the internet. It will not censor websites. It is not about how individual citizens use the internet.
■It will not lead to limitations of fundamental rights (e.g. control of laptops of air passengers at borders, monitoring of internet traffic). The respect of fundamental rights such as privacy, freedom of expression and data protection is expressively mentioned as a basic principle of the agreement.

■ACTA will not change the existing EU legislation. ACTA does not create new Intellectual Property Rights, but concerns procedures and measures to enforce existing rights and to act against large scale infringements, often pursued by criminal organisations.

    http://ec.europa.eu/trade/creating-...cs/intellectual-property/anti-counterfeiting/

whole lot of other shit on there, mainly about protecting copyright owners and all that junk, think dedbult is right though in saying it's more what they will be able to do with it in the future that gets a bit daunting...

    This thread is delusion central.

OP is the same binty mc bint that complained & got nuff threads here locked off you know...

& was the pre-cursor to SDM's "wafflers please read" sticky, I know this to be Gospel.

Not that I was a fan of the Jailbait Thread etc, much the opposite...

& now shes on here chatting this, pfft, can you see the irony?

    Fucking bullshit.
