    What I've currently got:
    Numark DDS
    X6 mixer (gifted to me)
bose on ear headphones (shameful I know, I owned them before I started mixing)
and a whole load of Cerwin Vega speakers

I've saved up ~$6,000 (about £3,900) in anticipation of buying some um.. REAL equipment, can any of you recommend a whole set up within that price?

I can save a bit more if needed.

    Thanks in advance

    1210's
    Xone 92 (i think)

6K should be more than enough to get you a nice set up.

But yeah, them ^ are the two standard purchases.

I would suggest you try a few mixers out before buying though, it's all down to personal taste, you shouldn't go for a certain mixer because someone says so.
But the 1210's are a no brainer.

sennheisser hd 25s, everything is replaceable on them also, probably will last longer than your life,

1210s, Xone92 , Pioneer DJM800 or whichever you like best to play on, and I'd grab a CDJ1000(or 2000 if u have enuf coin) also !

KRK's self powered monitors go alright too !

First tip I ever got was to get a DJM800 and a pair of CDJ1000s, suppose its still a good idea.. Might be a bit later for the CDJs considering I really already have something similar.

Those Sennheiser headphones aren't too badly priced compared to how much these Bose cost me new, another bonus is that everyone recommends them like mad.

Lucky bastard! 1210's, Xone 92, Shure White Labels, KRK RP8's should do you fine, then the rest on a SHIT load of vinyl!

Looked over all the equipment pretty well, going to talk to some people that I know first.
So yeah, shopping list so far:

Two SL-1210MK5's (black finish) $600 each
    Sennheiser HD25 cans $300
    Alien & Heath Xone92 $1500
    two Rockit monitors $250 each
krk 10 is recommended with the rokits so.. $400
    some microphone for like $100
    Total: $4000

CDJs in about a month or two

The rest on vinyl... If only Houston had a decent record shop.

Should set me up for quite a while if not forever? Buying it all new, don't want any dodgy gear.

I only play when I've got friends over or when I want to practice.. but eh.. I'm serious about it, worth the money.

If you have a decent laptop already then I would suggest getting Serato SL3. That way you don't need to buy additional CDJs, it will save you quite a bit and you can add a third deck when you have enough money.

All ordered, just picking out a ton of records now

    Will do man

Yeah I've got this Alienware laptop that I stupidly bought back in 2005 thinking I'd play games on it.. Then a year later I built myself a desktop.

Got a VJ program, should do fine.

Shame its all going to someone as shitty a DJ as I.

Took me half a year to save this much cabbage, keep at it
