Sad news, but after 25 years Tartan Films have gone out of business :(

Tartan Films was resposible for distributing some of the best independent, minority appeal, world and generally brilliant alternative cinema over here in the UK and in the US.

    Wiki here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tartan_Films
Full Release list here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Tartan_Films_releases

Although they didn't make the films, they made them a whole load easier to get hold of over here, giving classics like Battle Royale, Lady Vengenence, Infernal Affairs, Ivans XTC, Ring, Man Bites Dog, Oldboy etc and were one of the few companies which would put anything behind releasing these kind of films here...

Unfortunately the appeal of this type of cinema isn't widespread and so this has happened meaning one of my good friends (who'd been with them for 7 years!) is out of a job, and christ knows who's gonna release this kind of stuff over here now!

    Sad day indeed!

Yeah for sure - get round to getting copies of all the ones that you'd be meaning to grab!

Dunno what's gonna happen with all their stuff now - where or if it'll be available and at what price, but my mates meant to be popping over one evening this week so I'll let you know when I find out more...
