Heavy beats and dark basslines- Sub:side brings you the finest in fresh and current drum & bass from the best DJs, producers and MCs in the game.
After a run of strong lineups and some memorable parties in the back end of 2010 Sub:side finally returns for 2011 for a bank holiday special featuring another cutting edge lineup with a mix of established talent and some of the biggest names to look out for this year. There's no work the next day so no excuses!
Heading up the night, we're excited to welcome veteran DJ and producer Zero T to the Sub:side turntables. Since his first tunes making it to vinyl in 1999 Zero T's productions have graced influential labels such as Subtitles, Reinforced, V Recordings and more recently Shogun Audio and Nu Directions. Yet despite holding a personal back catalogue of releases to rival anybody's Zero T's dedication and desire to remain on the forefront of the drum & bass scene have culminated in the launch of his own label Footprints as well releasing in the legendary Fabriclive mix series.
He's backed up by three of the scene's most exciting and forward thinking names at the moment, all hotly tipped for 2011 in their own rights. First up is The Funktion, a young producer hailing from Oxford who since making his debut releasing on none other than Sub:side favourite label Critical has signed exclusively to Bristol based Rub DNB and has shared 12"s with the likes of DJ Fresh, Break and Audio. One of the forefront advocates of the new school tech sound The Funktion is guaranteed to leave a mark on the Plan B dancefloor.
We're also excited to welcome Brighton based DJ and producer Foreign Concept- almost certainly the brightest young talent to emerge in 2011. Since releasing on Broken Audio he's attracted some huge label attention signing music to the likes of Critical and Shogun Audio- his tune "Mob Justice" has received support from just about everyone from Doc Scott and Alix Perez to Friction and even DJ Hype. 2011 is going to be a massive year for this young talent and this will be a rare opportunity to see him play at such an intimate level. Similarly Krakota is another name guaranteed to make an impact this year with the huge "Be Myself" penned to Ingredients as well as some exciting collaborations with production partner Judda, who himself smashed up the dancefloor with one of the tightest sets in recent memory at Sub:side's very first night- safe to say from Krakota we're expecting more of the same!
The pairing of Sub:side's own In:Vision and new resident Loftie will be warming up with the usual fresh selection of deep beats they are fast becoming renowned for, while as ever DNB Arena's "Best Newcomer" for 2010 Messy MC will be your host on the mic.
For a ridiculous £3 advance from http://www.clubtickets.com/gb/2011-04/28/sub-side-bank-holiday-special and no work the next day you've got no excuses to miss this bank holiday special!
