Is it important to give your tracks more room, and a general feeling of depth?
and also how would I go about doing that? The only way I could think of would be to double all the channels and pan one to the left, and one right, but that could give it a sort of chorus or mono sound :|

You'll get some terrible phasing issues if you do that.

I think the best way is just to EQ stufff properly, any FX can be put slightly to the left or right, maybe a stereo enhancer/seperater on a lead synth etc etc.

Yes

You can pan individual elements. You can use mid/side gain fx vsts.
Just keep low bits mono'ed (kick sub)

EXPERIMENT! Ain't gonna kill you is it?
