Soundcloud 64kbps?

Apparently SC have reduced from crappy 128 to a ridiculous 64. Read it in a few places... anyone know if its true?

What ? So if I upload a clip that's 320kbps it will only play at 128kbps ? What about the download's ? Does it download the actual 320kbps clip ?

no it used to play at 128. now it will play at 64kpbs

Oh really I never knew but I have to be honest it sounds really good for 128kbps so 64 should be really noticeable I will check it out later.

Can confirm that downloads will be the same bit rate as whatever the file you uploaded was, so upload a WAV, download a WAV.

Apparently 64 kbps .opus is better than 64 kbps .mp3, not sure about 128. This is true for the newer version of opus (1.2). Currently SC are currently using 1.0, which I believe is inferior.

had a paid soundcloud account for the past 6 or 7 years, then they wanted more money to remove the ads, cancelled subscription won't open again
