Software to record mixes

I use Adobe Audition 3
Its nice and easy to use
I use it alot for Casting and sound engineering
Plus it has the almighty Dolby Digital MP3 format =]

Is that free?

Also I'm gonna hook up my decks to my PC tomorrow so I can record some mixes, just via 1 wire mind, am I going for the RCA into small headphone jack, and running it from on of the speaker outputs on the mixer to the headphone input on the PC?
