In an attempt to lose weight, get fit, and start feeling good about myself, I took the plunge and joined a gym near my work.

The gym is based pretty much across the road from where I work so my plan is to force myself straight into there after work with no excuses.

So anyway, I just thought I would share this with you, watch this space and wish me luck - I bloody need it!

Agreed, it doesn't interest me either ha!

However I started eating better and I lost a stone, so I've got a good feeling about it all right now, fingers crossed it continues.

Thank you, both of you (y) :)

Judging by what I saw today the gym will be empty, as I'll be there during off-peak hours (before 5pm).

Just me and the iPod (it's just finished charging!).

    Good move,

Just remember to keep going at it and not give up after a few weeks when you feel you've accomplished what you set out to do, theres so much more in it... the bloke down my gym said you should go at least twice a week to keep in check (although Im guilty of breaking this "rule" myself)

Gym itself is so damn boring, I cant actually focus and push myself without some dark n heavy backing music ;) but afterwards the immense rush of endorphins is well worth the effort :D

If your place has a sauna/jacuzzi I strongly recommend it after a long hard sesh in the gym too ;)

Yeah today went pretty well, it wasn't any hassle throwing myself in there straight after work, and I did plenty of exercise. I think I might have a swim or something at the end of the session tomorrow.

Let's hope I can carry it off (yn)

    Cheers for the advice mate.

Swimming is a fantastic way to get fit, no impact and it works all antangonistic muscle groups well.
Stu, do your stretches after gym, to avoid feeling stiff and sore in the morning, also good to avoid injury.
Remember the rewarding feeling you get after exercising (you do get that right ?), and use that to motivate you to get thru it. Pleasure is guiolt-free when you are looking after yourself, and thats worth it alone!!
good luck! You'll be cramming into those budgie smugglers come summer no worries!!

I need to do this too. I was so much more fit when I was going out all the time and now my weight is back up and I'm not as energetic. I miss the old me. I've been going for neighborhood walks but that doesn't seem to be doing enough good.

Good luck with your fitness endevers and hopefully mine too.
