so because technics are no more......

its more a decline of turntables as opposed to a decline of technics so cdjs :)

Sadly this is true, but I'm pretty sure that only the worst selling lines of the Technics 1200/1210 brand have been discontinued (i think the mk6 and a couple of others), if you want to get a turntable of similar specifications and design, IMO the Stanton ST range is the best option, afaik there are two choices in the range, the STR8150 and the ST 150, the only difference that i know of is that the ST 150 has an 'S' shaped tone arm, I use the ST 150's quite regularly and i can't really find a fault in them.

They all do the same thing really.
Those new stantons are supposed to be good minus all the unnecessary gimmicks.
But they lack the almost sexual appeal of the engineering marvel that is technics

this is true, they may have some features supposed to put they above technics but nothing beats that classic mk2 design...

^that is, quite frankly, pornography. and also i don't know what it is about it, but dat button click when you press the start/stop...
i love that sound...

I have used vestax and they were real good, would pick them if I didn't have technics.

but there will always be second hand technics to buy so them.

I disagree! I think the Stantons are nicer looking than standard technics

I honestly dont get this thread.

Technics are not "no more", just the mk2's are :/

And even then, theyre not "no more", these thousands, hundreds of thousands out there waiting for a buyer.

Stanton ST150

This. I used to have st150's
However I didn't think the headshell connection was anywhere near as good as my technics. Felt a bit rough and sometimes had to tightened / readjusted to get a good connection.

As most others have said, 1200/1210's are still easy to get hold of. I bought my MKIII's recently from eBay, and I don't regret it. As an alternative, ST150 are great, but they are heavy buggers!
