A mate of mines parents run one of them Outdoor Activity companies on their farm... they have 4 segways...

on the way back from Beach Break on sat night we decided to go stay at his parents cause we didnt really fancy the full 4 and half hour jouney at once.... anyway.. next morning... his dad rocks up on one of these and then spent the rest of the days buzzing around the farm on them. PROPER JOKES!!!

they are pretty trciky at first... but once you get the hang of it... which only takes about 10min... they are SICK! the only thing really... is that they are pretty dangerous... its quite easy to fall off them....

if you ever get the chance... do it man!

Yea a guy from work fell off of one, whilst on holiday in the states. He broke his shoulder & collar bone. He is huge though, and a piss'ead, so that probably had a lot to do with it..

This kinda reminds me of the peewee bikes we used to ride around back in the day. But my legs were too long to rest my feet on the bike, so had to ride around basically kneeling down..but in the air..if that makes sense lol

    And crossers! Bloody loved them

Oh... and it wasnt the inventor that died... but the owner of the company. Some fat dude bought the company.... then killed himself on a segway.

Behind times? You want to let these things on the road? And where is actually space for them on the pavement?

Mate if only you knew just how far back into our history they had to reach to ban them from the pavement! Section 72 of the first Highway Act 1835...

'Penalty on persons committing nuisances by riding on footpaths, &c.
If any person shall wilfully ride upon any footpath or causeway by the side of any road made or set apart for the use or accommodation of foot passengers; or shall wilfully lead or drive any horse, ass, sheep, mule, swine, or cattle or carriage of any description, or any truck or sledge, upon any such footpath or causeway; or shall tether any horse, ass, mule, swine, or cattle, on any highway, so as to suffer or permit the tethered animal to be thereon'

    The bastards.
