Hi,
Im new to drum and bass producing and im doing the best i can I already know how to use Ableton and Fl studio because i produced hardstyle earlier.

But my Problem is: I always listen to this awesome songs also by the members on this forum and when im listening to them i ask my self "why do my samples not sound like that" or What "samples do they use?"

At the moment im using Vec 3 and some free samples but they just arent the right ones i know some samples arent ready to use when you download them and you have to do some edeting on them but mine just suck.

It would be nice if you guys would tell me some samples (free or payed) which are good.

Thanks adi19

I make all my samples myself, go around youtube and sample random shit,

i have 400GB of samples by now.

Ok How do you do that? and which programs do you use ? do you use reason ableton logic or fl?
And last arent there ANY good already done samples?Because i just started in making drum and bass and i first want to use done samples

Could you recommend some packs because there are so many and i actually have no idea :P

It helps to buy a sample pack based on the style you are going for

I've bought a few samples packs usually about $20 - $50 CDN
Sometimes they are good, sometimes they are shit

Check out somewhere like http://www.producerloops.com/
Sometimes I go on youtube and rip the audio from a video

As for DNB sample packs, I am not really much help in this department because I suck at making DNB right now

Oh i record all the stuff, with Audacity, and then save as .wav.
Sometimes i'll play some random Flash game, that has Cool SFX, or something so i sample that, the possibilities are endless really.

"...if I tell you, I'd have to kill you!" *in best Godfather voice*.

Seriously though, theres plenty of free stuff out there, both reason and ableton come with some more than adequate dnb sounds... although any sound is dnb if you twist it up right! Checking out some remix competitions to see what sort of sounds/stems are being used could be helpful too.

Good luck on your search bro...

Peace

Whats the big fascination with wanting samples over the last couple of days?.......sure, samples can help, but c'mon.........get creative and make your own sounds instead of robbing other peoples!

so getting a danny byrd break from his sample pack and choppin it up is getting ur own sample ? :teeth:

iv only recently started using breaks and such, only ever used voice samples and drum samples tho, everything else made within the daw!

Thanks for the replies everyone!

@MR Fletch ive just started and i first want to try arround

if one is just starting out with producing, it might help one to use samples as a benchmark.

Sure, but it doesnt really help you progress in learning production techniques if all you are doing is grabbing a bunch of samples, throwing them together and calling it "your" track.

When I 1st started out i was eager to learn how to create sounds and use them in a track, it took lots of time but it was well worth it.

I'm not against people using samples, but I think too many people focus solely on the use of samples.

vengance 1,2, and 3 brilliant sampels for drums snares and impacts or pads. i no for a fact that icicle and subfocus have used samples from these u just gta use em right, so u definently need a slicer prog to change tempo etc cz tehre all around 140. i read on a chook interview which u probably wana google cz its got some good stuff in tehre, that specialist drum n bass sample packs never hit it right and using samples from minimal, techno, house etc have a cleaner finish and are much higher quality. bass wise i believe in only sampling what u make your self, i dont feel at home with ready made bass samples hope it helkps

i have a few sample packs from loopmasters they are brilliant. i recognise quite a lot of the samples from released tunes too
