Thinking of signing up to Sample Genie to check the Maztek drum tutorial out.

Has any else used the service or checked that tutorial? Any good?

i thought it was quite bland, he took a few of his drums from the packs, slammed them together and compressed them in a group bus

agreed, would've liked him to go into more detail about actually creating his drum hits

Thats a shame. Had a feeling that may have been the case. Will probably give it a miss then as i was more interested in the layering / creating the drum hits side of it.

    Thanks for the info.

haha we can help you with that over here mate.
I do a lot more layering breaks than drum hits but they go hand in hand

hey i've been a member of sample genie for a few months. in my opinion the last two months have not been good. the tutorial video for this month is extremely short and just on basic drums. last month, mikal had a tutorial, while cool- also extremely short (20 minutes I believe).

the last few months before that had hour long tutorials each: one of which was Inside Info's which was sick (his remix of Meant to Be).

The sample packs have some good drums in them every month though.
