New to this forum...there's a couple of tunes that I've been trying to trace for over 10 years. God knows how many record shops I've scoured - and it doesn't help that I've no idea what the tracks are, and that I'm pretty ignorant about d&b anyway, despite being a d&b punter in years gone by.

They're probably both of the same vintage as Unknown Origin's Valley of the Shadows, since it's on a same tape of cadged tunes that I put together in the mid-90s. The samples from Aliens in the first track aren't part of the record.

The 3rd track is completely off-topic, in case there's anyone out there who knows their reggae - it sounds like it might be Burning Spear, but again it's a beautiful track that's proved elusive, (for over 20 years)

If anyone can help, you'll make an old fogey very happy.

The links seem to work or not depending on which computer I use to access the forum, so I don't know what's going on there. Here's a rapidshare link, rar file with just the 2 old skool tunes:

http://rapidshare.com/files/256827423/Old_skool_tunes_ID.rar

If the link doesn't show up, paste "/files/256827423/Old_skool_tunes_ID.rar" into the browser, and prefix with "rapidshare.com"

I heard both tunes played a few times at Notting Hill carnival, as well as in clubs, where they went down well - and they were doing the rounds in mix tapes around 1995-6. So they shouldn't be completely obscure.

Zippyshare links again, if you want to just listen to the tunes: "zippyshare.com/v/2474870/file.html" and "zippyshare.com/v/57371108/file.html", each prefixed with "www7".

Cheers

Found tune 2: Desired State, Beyond Bass.

Still no idea about tune 1. It must be from 1993, I don't think it's from Ram & Andy C as I checked their early releases on youtube. Any help out there?

I'm getting rid of a lot of non-vinyl - anyone interested in mix tapes from mid-90s, in reasonable nick? Yours if you want them:
Bukem - Rebirth - one of his ambient d&b sets, it has it's moments
Bukem - 2 tapes - Fusion & Chill Out II - Fusion heats up nicely, includes classic DJ Rap & Aston, Get Rushed. Chill Out II is what it says on the box - dull
Fantasia Jungle 2 - 3 tapes - Grooverider, Bukem & DJ Rap.

ID-ed them

Found tune 1 now: Acro, Superpod.

If anyone wants those tapes, let me know, otherwise they'll go to the charity shop.

Cheers
