Panasonic have decided to stop making them. Nooooooo.
Original source of info:
Panasonic (the manufacturer of Technics) have announced that production of the world famous Technics SL-1200 and SL-1210 DJ turntables will stop at the end of February 2010. If you are interested in securing a pair of the legendary turntables before they are gone, we have a limited number left in stock at DMC.
However, Chemical spoke to its Technics UK contact:
MK5 is being discontinued
MK2 (lower priced version) will still be in production, as well as the top tier models
So this could just affect Aus/Nz
thats just unimaginable....
is this just in Australia?
meh...looks like a marketing scam tbh
kind of implies this is worldwide
hmmm... this does not bode well for the vinyl side of 'vinyl vs digital'
agreed! this sucks!
Fuck digital! im a man of plastic and always will be!!!
great time to be a technics servicer! they will be busy! untill they run out of spare parts that is!
So that's it then? No more Technics ever? That's fucked up. What will they use in clubs now?
digital does have it's uses... but vinyl all the way!
yea i no, the only time i use digital is for my own or other artists dubs
think of how much you will get to sell them now!
now what will be the best alternatives? Stantons?
vestax pdx 3200's will take over!!
hang on I think this is a misunderstanding.. I think they mean there stopping production of mk5 like they did with all the other mks bar mk2. maybe this means theres a mk6 on its way??
interesting point... and just because they are stopping the manufacture of the decks, doesn't mean clubs world wide will just chuck the current ones in the bin!
