So they're going defunct? Does anyone know why? It kinda sucks 'cause I was just getting into them...

Yeah, I wish I could've been there then, but I wasn't. I wasn't tasteful enough early enough (or actually born early enough) :-/

Got the Trilo EP on Renegade Hardware. Meh. Not the best release for one of the last on the label.

I disagree. Granted, it's not the classic RH stuff from the years long gone, but as far as their modern era is concerned, it's definitely one of the better releases and as far as the darker/harder sound goes, I'd dare to say it's one of the best releases this year has seen.

Sorry, can't share this right now. Soon on our site, when the label announced release.

They ripped so many people off over the years it was always going to be hard work pulling everything together for a special last release though really.

They should have done a 5 x 12" lp to mark the occasion, all the heads from latter era of the label remixing the heads from the early years, and vice versa.

Admittedly I'm not by any means the source of info but it's well known that various producers have had behind the scenes beef with Clayton.

Is this going to become the history of hardware beef post?

Wasn't there something between Hardware and Raiden?

Also Clayton seems to be preparing a special release exclusive to USB..

I only know the story about Messiah, that there was a 'fight' over it with BC.
RH guys told it once in Uncle Dug's podcast.

Ok so the "ripping off" was more to do with the label/artists. I was wondering why such a respected label was closing down the doors but im sure they could get new artists so that still doesn't explain it fully.

There have been more than a few stories over the years aside from the Konflict one and the recurring narrative seems to be that

young producer signs to hardware and has a string of releases
doesn't get paid for releases and is told the prestige and profile boost of releasing on Hardware is sufficient payment
young producer gets upset, turns back on renegade hardware, cycle continues

There's probably some behind the scenes shit but it's as if he's just had enough from what I can see.
