As it has been a while since my last mix, this month I thought I would record something a bit different from my current tastes in dnb & go back to some more heavier flavours, with some of my favourite tunes from the past, in this sub-genre & some more recent tunes thrown in for good measure. Featuring artists such as Gridlok, Fierce, Break, Silent Witness, Spor, Phace, Noisia, Ed Rush & Optical, as well some more recent tunes from the likes of Rockwell, Alix Perez, Xtrah, EBK, Octane & DLR, mix in a couple Ram Records tunes, plus my favourite old Chase & Status and there should be a little something for most people who like this style of dnb.

Like Kasra mentioned about his fabriclive cd, there are some little imperfections here and there, but I am happy how the mix turned out.

Tracklist:-

gridlok - heatwave (violence)
fierce & break - foodchain (quarantine)
gridlok - shallow (project 51)
phace - strage science (shogun audio)
spor - stoppit (lifted)
fierce & optiv - surface noise (quarantine)
alix perez - exemption (shogun audio)
vicious circle - cerberus (renegade hardware)
icicle & nymfo - franky mountain (ram records)
break, silent witness & survival - conference call (symmetry)
cause 4 concern - bedhead (c4c recordings)
stakka, skynet, kemal & rob data - biosfear (underfire recrodings)
rockwell - tripwire (shogun audio)
ebk, octane & dlr -mainframe (renegade hardware)
noisia, ed rush & optical - brain bucket (vision)
break - is this what you want (symmetry)
silent witness - twin town (critical music)
culture shock - cathedral (ram records)
chase & status - glitch (renegade hardware)
xtrah - contortion (subtitles music)
octane & dlr - back in the grind (dispatch recordings)
black sun empire - space bunny (citrus recordings)
phace & misanthrop - progression (neosignal)

Hope you enjoy & any feedback is greatly appreciated :)

big mix man. real nasty darkness to it which i like. Best bits for me were the exemption drop, love that tune. also tripwire - mainframe is huge. Havent heard is this what you want in a long time, might have to dig it out of the bag and have a play again myself, big drop there too. also like the conference call drop, find it hard to drop that tune without it sounding out of place, but you did it well. The ending with progression is also sick, havent heard anyone mix it like that, always drops on its own but it works well. All in a all a good mix, good flow throughout. Gonna subscribe to you man!

Thanks for the feedback man :) Glad you liked it. Tried to link the tunes as best I could. Was trying to stay on top of the Conference Call cut, as I find its better to have the full effect of some tunes as they drop as opposed to mixed, and the mix didn't sound like it was running away. Plus I am pleased you liked the Tripwire - Mainframe mix, I think that is my favourite in there as there is quite a bit going on in the mix, the tunes compliment each other & when both tunes break to no beat in the same place.... I think thats the icing on the cake for me. Is This What You Want is one of the stand out tunes for me off the Symmetry LP, really tearing bass in there. Felt like Progression was a bit of an arse to get to grips with at first, so tried bringing it in a little later, as there are a few switch ups in the first part of the tune & though it went ok.

Next mix is going to be something different again. Did a couple of minimal mixes for January & February. Am planning on doing a jump up mix, hopefully a rolling liquid mix, another minimal mix & something specialised before the end of the year

I'll keep an eye out for any of your mixes in future. Ez

Although I didn't know a fair bit of tunes (will definitely need to pick up a few) I really liked the mix mate! Flows really nice, while being dark and rolling. That part around Tripwire was fucking sick, couldn't stop nodding my head! Strange Science to Stoppit was another sick and well executed mix for sure. Also I can't really say no to any mix with Contortion, what a tune! And finishing with Progression? No need to add anything more here. Big up! :)

:) Cheers man! Really pleased you liked the mix & thanks for the kind words. I tried to put a fair few of the tunes I liked from this genre of dnb when I first discovered the style & its nice to make people aware of past tunes that might have been lost forever for some. Glad you thought the mixes round Tripwire were sick too... that is my favourite part of the mix. Ez

right this was absolutely raw man, selection was fire.

Intro was really solid, not heard heatwave before, need to bag (was mixing it with splash step in my head ). was very clean and worked well
shallow with strange science sounded sick, when those mids from shallow stab through over the bass it sounded hench.
mix with stoppit sounded a bit off as i think stoppit got lost a bit below all the bass going on, very tight though and thats pretty damn picky!

next two mixes were top too, drums everywhere, got a nice vibe going by this point.

cerberus sounded sick when it came in, such a powerful tune so its hard not to make the switch seem too drastic which it didn't so kudos

thanks for reminding how large biosphere is, gona start drawing for that again, mix with tripwire was tight but i thought tripwire got overpowered a bit by biosphere..

big double with mainframe though, nice

tbh the only bit i didnt really dig was cathedral and thats just because i don't like the tune that much, however the mix out of it was nice.

really good overall man, spot on selection and mixed really tightly, will check the next one for sure

Thanks for the feedback man! :) Glad you liked the selection. Heatwave is possible my favourite Gridlok tune, next to Shallow. When I first discovered the name of Heatwave after hearing it in sets, it was one of those jaw dropping moments that I had finally found the tune & could hunt it down :) The Strange Science - Stoppit mix, Stopping did appear a little low on the gain, but I had it turned up a little more on the mixer. Didn't seem like it was drowned out though & you could still hear both tunes. Biosfear did kinda overpower Tripwire in the mix, but I'd tried it before with the gain on Tripwire higher & it sounded a little out of place & forced, so I tried it complimenting Biosfear + Biosfear is a really tearing tune anyway, it overpowers most in the mix if the levels are virtually the same. I rediscoved Cathedral after hearing Ed Rush play it in Soutampton the other month. Not usually my thing, but I can imagine it going well with a fair few tunes. Cheers man for the words. Am pleased I made you aware of Heatwave. Will keep an eye out for your future mixes too

Weekend bump. After 40 downloads on dnbshare + soundcloud & over 51 plays on soundlcloud in a week, would anyone else like to leave some feedback?
