SiR 1 is an IR unit, it comes with a bunch of reverb IRs, and its free too.
the only dist plug i found that could do half way credible things with a sound is predatOHM, but its not free. on the other hand if your sound already is distorted through something cool you can just wack blood overdrive on there, itll be fine

yeah logikz is right about IR's.... you can get some naughty reverbs with those..... they are not exactly light on the cpu though

as for distortion... im a fan of tone2's BiFilter (£free)

Seriously the steinberg overdrive is amazing....
i find it difficult to use anything else...
it produces a warm loud signal at low gain settings...
without losing to much character or becomming to messy....
though i would love to buy perhaps an ENGL guitar
head just to use as a pre/distortion unit.... pitty
i dont have $3000 AU... anyway...

reverbs.... do you use logic...?
the convulation reverb (space designer) is
beautiful otherwise if you not a logic user (like me)
the sonnox reverb is good (use it often)....
that said i would much prefer to being using a DSP reverb
(UAD plate 140 is v. nice, TC powered reverbs Classic verb VSS3 is incredible)....
that said not much compares to the real thing... go buy a real plate....
