SHOGUN AUDIO
MONASTERY NIGHTCLUB- 621 ANN ST, BRISBANE
SUNDAY 12th JUNE 2011
9PM-5AM

Since its inception in 2004 Shogun Audio has gone on to become one of the most essential labels in dance music today. Driven by it’s founders Friction and business partner K-Tee the Shogun brand has developed in such a way that it is now an all-encompassing drum and bass juggernaut releasing anything from the deep and minimal sounds to the dirty tech grooves and the tear-out party anthems.

Its been another amazing year for multi award winning drum & Bass superstar DJ Friction. As well as continuing to DJ all over the world and his label Shogun Audio establishing itself as one of the most respected labels on the planet, he has produced some of the biggest tracks of the last 12 months. 'Stand Up' (vs Camo & Krooked), his remix of Wretch 32's 'Traktor' and his stomping remix of 'Sweetshop' (w Camo & Krooked) have torn dancefloor's to shreds all over the place with a storming remix of Vato Gonzalez's 'Badman Riddim' to be followed by brand new solo material.

If your coming to witness a Friction DJ set, prepare to be blown away with mix after mix because this man never disappoints!

2010 acted as another non-stop rollercoaster ride for Friction with gigs from London to Sydney to Korea and even Hawaii. Although the schedule is fierce and unrivalled, a Friction set never falters; whether he's on two or three decks, playing for two hours or four, to 500 to 20,000, people are rapidly learning that, drum & bass fanatics or otherwise, a night with Friction is one to remember. Alongside the highly-respected, sophisticated labels Shogun Audio and SGN:Ltd - releasing music unlike any other, its no surprise that Friction was asked in 2010 to pioneer the first of Ministry of Sounds Mixed series, collating and mixing a forward-thinking, deep yet dancefloor compilation which was received, deservedly, to phenomenally high-acclaim.

Overseeing the signing of new distinctive artists to the label, Friction is ensuring that Shogun persistently grows to accommodate the constantly fresh and exciting movement that he has pioneered. With an ever-successful Brighton residency at Digital club and a new residency in the capital at Londons Cable, Shogun events, releases and artists are a storming and unquestioned success each time.

Making the breakthrough into the world of respected d&b MC is no small task - yet SP:MC has managed to firmly establish himself as one of the busiest and most innovative on the circuit. Acting as MC of choice for all artists pushing intelligent sound, SP frequently represents Shogun Audio thanks to extensive and ever-exciting work with head honcho, DJ Friction.

SP was first recognised at GQs London Emcee Monthly Sessions after GQ heard one of his early mix-tapes. Hosting for labels as diverse as Metalheadz, Autonomic, Hospital, Renegade Hardware, Commercial Suicide, Bassbin, Quarantine, Digital Soundboy, Soul:R, Innerground and Valve, SPs been in remarkably high demand since. Citing GQ, Dynamite and Conrad as early influences, versatility & quality control are a guarantee when SP's in the building.

Hosting sets on a global scale, SP is coveted internationally - and as if worldwide tours werent enough, SP also began producing in 2005. Collaborations with Breakage set the standard, followed by tracks with fellow MC Verse; all receiving heavy rotation from the likes of Friction, Andy C, Goldie, Marky, Grooverider, Fabio, dBridge, Marcus Intalex, Doc Scott & Break. Featuring on Dreadnaught the debut release from Icicles first LP for Shogun Audio SP proves that he can lay down an infectious flow unlike any other.

Now easily one of underground musics premier hosts, SP:MC represents a sophisticated lyrical sound highly rare to find. Breaking expressive boundaries, it is no wonder that SP is MC of choice for the most admired and in-demand artists in all bass-orientated music worldwide.
