Well, the term resampling could be used for anything that you bounce out as an audio file then whack back into either sampler or sequencer for further processing.
Things such as basslines quite often require a considerable amount of resampling, as you layer up sounds, process them individually, send them to a bus, bounce out, and whack it back into your sampler or sequencer for further layering and processing.
