Well, here it is….a first birthday party Repercussion-style….
The lineup speaks for itself - there are big names in there that you’ll all know, but as ever we’ve also tried to push some artists we really rate that don’t get quite enough props.
We’ve tried to structure it so you’ll hear the whole spectrum from the deepest grooves to the hardest tearouts and everything in-between over the course of the night. As well as the main man and many of the Headz regulars, new Metalheadz recruits Bad Company and MC Stirlin will also be in attendance in the main room to help launch the new Headz Platinum Label, plus the Repercussion residents setting the scene. Watch out for free promos and back catalogue vinyl on the night!
Tru Thoughts are one of the most forward-thinking labels around and in room 2 we’ve got three of most technically skilled selectors in the UK providing the grooves across 3 decks alongside Phi-Life Cypher doing a live show. No doubt you’ll be treated to a great mix up of funk, breaks, turntablism and hiphop beats.
Up top we really wanted to give a diverse d&b artist the license to play whatever they like and know they would deliver the goods, so we have Deep Blue conjuring up a blend of soulful house, jazz and downtempo styles with support from Critical boss Kasra and Catalyst of Soul:R. There’ll be a few treats for the old skool headz as well with Haste, Manikular and Genius Jones serving up the hardcore and jungle rhythms.
We’re also very proud to be supporting RNID’s ‘Don’t Lose The Music’ campaign, devoted to increasing awareness of tinnitus and other hearing problems related to clubs and gigs in an informative and non-patronising way. You can get any further information before, during or after the event from www.dontlosethemusic.com. There will also be free earplugs available on the night.
We really wouldn’t have put a night of this size on in London unless we felt totally confident in the artists and the venue we were using, and still thought we were offering something a little different to the rest. The bottom line is that we’re music lovers instead of business people and like every night we hold, the focus here is on offering good value and a party vibe. We reckon that with the Funktion One sound system, terrace, garden and full air-con (not to mention cheap draught beer available!) Egg is the ideal place for us.
Although just getting this far has taken over 6 months and a huge amount of money and time that none of us really have, we really are trying to put something on that everyone from the true headz to those with a just passing interest will enjoy. So hopefully we’ll see you there - come down and feel the Repercussion…..
Entry is just £10 in advance, which we think is a bargain for 27 artists performing at a Friday all-nighter!
