remixing

Does anyone know what the rules are about remixing tunes.

For example if id made a drum and bass tune of sweet dreams and wantwed to put it up on the net could i get in trouble?

If you dont make any money from it I doubt anyone is really going to take notice, however if you started making big money from it and it became well known, I'm sure the original label would have something to say about it..

it depends you cant be touched unless you use samples from the original song

If I use a small sample of a song I usually distort it enough that the artist wouldnt even recognise it anyway.

dunno noisia did a breaks remix of sweet dreams and that got airplay as a bootleg, dunno if it's on vinyl though
