Bass reducing sidechain pumpimg

Hey guys,

I've a couple of tracks that I'm working on that I guess fit into the liquid category of drum&bass which feature sustained or drone like bass-lines rather than patterned bass-lines. The problem is in order to have the kick come through loud and clear side-chaining is applied to the sub which breaks it up and gives an unwanted pumping effect. Does anyone have advice about reducing this? cheerz

design your kicks and sub to not overlap so much in frequency range

It's all about EQ mate, try boosting the kick around 80-100hz and taking a little notch out around 40-50hz. Then do the opposite with the sub.
