Bought some pioneer CDJ's around 2 months ago and got my self up and running. Have really practiced loads of the last month and have now got mixing down to a tee. I want to start recording my mixes onto my laptop to see where i can improve.

Ive installed audacity which i have heard is used to record. Now i only have a head phone port on my laptop but have a small headphone and microphone usb soundcard. Tried putting the phono to jack into the head phone port but this doesnt work...only records like a microphone would do. I tried it in the mic port that does record but the quality is aweful and its really distorted...some much u cant tell what tune it is.

Do i need to get a better soundcard? can any one let me know what they use i.e. soundcard wise software wise?

sounds like u need to select the correct recording input.

in audacity there will be a drop down menu next to a pic of a microphone. select the option that describes your desired recording input and not the laptops mic.

job done.
