I am very loyal to my record shop but am thinking of taking a trip down to London/Birmingham/Other and wondered if you have any recommendations for really cool record shops, I like a shop where I can spend a few hours just listening to stuff

Cheers!

:)

BM Soho is a good one, they're really helpful if you ask for recommendations.

be careful though, i walked in only wanting a few tunes walked out with over 100 quids worth!

thats what a good record shop is :D
nothing worse than leaving empty handed or with only a couple of tunes

I go to Selectadisc in Nottingham for mine. It's a good shop for vinyl,Cd's etc. but I dunno, sometimes the selection is not wide enough for my liking...
There are others that I know of that specialise in 'electronic' music but not so clued up :D

I would only to other towns to go old sckool record shopping, may aswell save you pennies and buy online if you want new stuff.

That's probably true, but nothing beats rolling into a nice, friendly record shop and looking at what's there...

Yeah, I just love the experience of record shopping, I don't order off the net, can't really beat that buzz you get in the shop when you find something special...

yes! i was trying to think of the name of that shop at the weekend. i picked up ra in there for about £4!!!

the hardtofind store in birmingham is pretty good apparently. ive never been but my mate lives nearby and reckons its fucking massive with loads of everything. think its right by the train station too which is handy:lickface:

Sisteray on Berwick street in the west end is sick. Also Knowhow is sick. All about the music exchange shops, I've picked up some GEMS from those places!

you know man. i was in london just before my bday at xmas time, went in there came out with V Classics lp, Dillinja 96 thing and a couple others

(y)

to be honest i wouldn't recommend BM soho, when i went there they had barely any new stuff in, and a seriously limited selection, drum and bass section was tiny! I know what you mean by chilling in a record shop just listening to tunes, much better than getting them off the internet and its not that much more expensive anyway.... Banquet records in Kingston is good though and the brehs who work there are bare friendly n helpful but i doubt you'd be comin to this part of London...
