If it's an 808 sound you want, then use an 808 sample.

If you just want to make bass, then subtractor or thor should be able to see you right.

Well u can include REBIRTH drum machine in Reason 4, its a clone of these vintage drum machine 808 909 and for free. Or grab a Refill with it. Didnt know they had a bass instrument too, think u mean kick drum (=bass drum) instead?
AFAIK these sounds where sampled on these former drum machines, today here in my Ableton DAW the kit is synthesized by FM, dont think the reason synths are best choice to rebuild drum sounds, but thor is nice for bass
