question on the law about advertising boards for events

whats the crack with putting event ads up on like lamposts and traffic lights..you know the ones on card, just stating the date, venue, headline act and a mob number.....you see em at traffic lights, traffic junctions, lamposts ect.

ive been told you can put them up as long as they are removed after the event...but not sure if this is correct....ive done this for an event last year and after putting up about ten in broad daylight in new cross i lost me bottle....

regularly flier and promo for nights i play for in brum, never been an issues plastering posters and flyers everywhere possible lol. Havent heard of any comeback, so go for it!
