any one had any issues with theirs? mine just stopped reading all discs, and its only about 20 months old.

phoned up sony and apparently all they can do is give me a reconditioned one with a 3 month guarentee for £130.

what a load of shit....3 month guarentee? i asked him what happens if it breaks after 4 months and he said thats the risk you take.

fucking screwing right now

yeah if its within a year they are still under guarentee.

he told me to try and take it back to the supplier under the trade of goods act, thought that was only a year as well

Just buy a new Blu-Ray drive from ebay for £60 and fix it yourself. I'm sure its not difficult if you have a Torx screwdriver.

Ive heard about this, apparantly Sony are screwing over all the Man U fans because they are all cunts.
haha!

found a really good website on the sales of goods act, and apparently as the manufactuer states it should have a 10 year life span then i can claim under that.

sent an email to argos so hopefully they can get me a replacement.

http://whatconsumer.co.uk/faulty-playstation-3/ thats the website if anyone wants to know

my brother had a 40GB console did the same thing, stopped reading discs, out of warranty sony quoted around £150 to fix it i think, in the end the got a new slim one, but I had an original 60GB, got it april '07, and got the yellow light of death about 6 months a go, apparently its from the motherboard overheating and solder melting short-circuiting bits of it, so i took the blu-ray drive out of mine and put into the other, simple enough, just need a torx security screwdriver, just need the daughterboard from the BR drive to match the motherboard on the PS3

You could do that insurance thing. Think it's a fiver a month, but there will probably be a minimum claim time of a month or two.

argos emailed me back saying i need to get proof that its faulty, ie from a specialist...and they will cover any costs incurred if it is faulty.

would be a lot cheaper for them just to return it in store and test it there, not as if they need a specialist to tell them it doesnt read discs...now they are guna have to cover my courrier costs

Have you got a computer exchange shop near you Dan? Surely they'd be able to test it and write out proof that its broke.
