Programming Breaks in Acid Pro 4.0

Hi ive been using FL for a while now and i decided to switch to acid cause i heard it has better drum programming abilities and doesnt take up too much resource (still using the old p3 450 :P ). So i loaded my amen in a channel but thats all i can do. How do you edit individual hits? Is there a piano roll or do i just cut and paste hits to the channel. I'd be happy if someone could guide me through this

thanks

Sorry mate but I STRONGLY disagree.

I've used FL in the past and I've come to the conclusion that I dislike it. I only use Acid Pro now and for chopping breaks......."there is no other" as far as I'm concerned. Then again I haven't used the very latest versions of fruit loops so perhaps its gotten better but I digress.

Alls you need to do is chop up a break into 4 or 8 measure loops and then the rest is cut and paste unless if your trying to be a square pusher.

You need to learn to focus in on the break and use the "split at curser" tool to be able to move the break hits around. Thats what I do. Its all about splitting the wav up at the points when an important drum hit takes place... then you just move those hits around till it sounds right. FL was really crap for doing this sort of stuff because its much better to be able to see the wave form in person and manipulate it by hand.

If you still don't get what I mean then perhaps I can post a photo of my acid screen. Its a real peice of cake after you do it once.

hey,

yeah, i basically use Acid for everything... i dunno why but i like it!

i normally load up a break - sometimes i duplicate the track/layer so you have more 'room' to work.

i then load in loads and loads of single hits, each on a different channel as one shot samples - you can just draw then in where you want them...

here's a zip of an example: click here

only a quick example, but hope that helps...

ez,
kompressor.

i do it the way 19912 does it ! but either ways cool. just make sure your loops are well cut first.

its a brilliant underated tool lumped in with ejay but now supports vst instruments. midi is pretty limited tho.

v5 is out soon, including rewire mmmmmmm straight into cubase

yep

acid 5 sound studio is out

but best waiting for acid pro 5 to come out

Any idea what Acid Pro 5 will have over version 4? The best thing about version 4 was the integration of seperate EQs and effects for the channels. The only thing I can think of that would make this software better is synths.

Thanks to all for the response and to kompressor for the example. Though im finding out acid is not exactly what i was looking for, its still better than the fuckin fruity slicer. Ill be using that timestretch mashup a lot now!

A lot of that stuff seems useless to me. I like the idea of the Attack, Sustain, and Release envelopes for a wave sample though.
