Im a newbie to production, currently using FL studio and I have no troubles in understanding the creation of a drum sequence

But I have troubles with making a bass for my songs. Whats the best way to do it? Please bare into mind im a complete amateur and I need full help. Should I do this in FL studio or get another program?

cruise youtube for tutorials on 3xosc, probably the simplest way to get started.

making good bass sounds is hard though, i have loads of trouble getting any more than just a simple sub bass to sound nice.

3x osc is fine, i make all my basses in that ( n i dabble in massive)

there are plenty of features, you just have to know how to use them

its not all about the syth tho, use effects such as distortion and chorus to assist you in geting that eye watering bass line lol

Spose a good starting tip would be to experiment with layering up bass sounds.

Make 3 different patches, one with some nice high end detail, one with big mids and one with a fairly basic solid low end.

Bounce these down to audio and load them into separate tracks

Now you can apply different EQ, distortion, fx etc to each one independently. Its probably a good idea not to apply anything too heavy to the very low end cos this can ruin the sub-bass.

When you have tweaked the levels and it's sounding nice, bounce the product down to a single audio file and load into your sampler of choice.

You can further tweek the sound when you're laying down the bassline by adding compression, EQ, further distortion maybe. Once again, avoid messing with the sub-100Hz region too much.

if ur just starting out its probably best to get ur head around something like the 3xosc - just to learn the basics of synthesis, once ur comfortable with it then it would be make sense to move onto more complex vst synths such as z3ta, massive, albino etc etc

well i would say first of since your just getn started is to play around will diff programs and find what works the best overall . bass is always the tricky part make shure to compress that shit and run a eq on it to pull the sound out what you looking for .. for exzample find a patch or make the sound close to what you want in the melody and run the melody testing out diff patches

when you get closer to the sound tweek it out .. with the eq and set compression level .....

reason 4.0 is great to fuck with bass because you can realy get down with tweekn it out , but you must compress theres a million ways to do all this but for real bro jus get to work and you will evolve your sound in time to what you want
