I am working on a song and I cannot recreate this bass sound. I am using ableton 8.
I am new to somewhat new to creating patches and I have tried for two days, so any help would be very much appreciated. I have included an example mp3.

What I think that I know:
I think there is a sine osc holding down the low end.
There is a synced lfo attached to filter cutoff with the sync rate locked to midi and the values automated to get the "signature" dub-step wobble.
The sound is being distorted, saturated, overloaded not sure exactly what. I have tried but cant quite get it.

What I really cant get is the high freq stuff and the dirtiness. Is the filter self oscilating to get the high freq stuff or is that a separate sound?

I think that I found the answer. It is NI Massive. The wavetable type waveforms have much richer timbre than subtractive or FM synths.

I have tried adding one or two more layers. What I cant figure out is what is the high distortion sound. I have tried many things and can't reproduce it.
