played last night at a small bar/club turned up was pretty confident i would play a smooth set had a nice tune selection with me gave it my best nd to be honest could of been alot worse but wosnt too happy, they said before hand the decks wer a bit sketchy, jumped on them and ive never mixed on anything like them pitch control all over the shot, had to play the records serious slow without it without it spazzin out, dj who had mixed on them previous week came to help me sort em out jus said good luck mate i had a fuckin hell of a time tryna mix on these, bit demorolising at the start of a set lol....anyone had similar experiences?? fuckin anoyin

I've never played out so can't really comment.
But as long as held your nerve and got on with things, i can't see why you can't hold head up high and defeated the odds.

I know that sounds like a quote from a biblical tale but it's true.

Last wednesday I played the shittiest set I have probably ever played. The needles were jumping, monitors were super delayed for some reason and then a fight broke out in front of the decks and almost knocked one of the decks on to the floor. I was super down afterwards but then the following Friday I played unquestionably the best set of my life. had the whole room sweating. Don't get down on yourself it happens to everybody.

its completly the decks fault, i wouldnt feel to bad about it, people with old shitty decks that they dont know how to use themselves

its the same at college, ive been mixing vinyl for a while now and i got on the decks at college and i couldnt even mix on them, the pitch just went all over the place by itself because they were fuckin old 1210s, made me look like a dickhead like the class thought i couldnt mix properly. but it aint my fault the tutors dont know how to mix so they dont know that the decks are fucking shit.

i wouldnt play at that club again man

You will always get nights like these. You just have to deal with it. No monitors, dodgy decks, dodgy mixer, it doesn't matter what it is it will happen to you when you're starting out.

One word of advice, learn how to mix in your headphones because it will make your life a lot easier when you turn to a venue that doesn't have any monitors in the booth.

My first play out wernt exactly my best, the mixer was an xone 02 with stupid EQ faders, a few knobs were missing, the cd decks pitch display was funny and no monitors except for a massive speaker next to my feet that just engulfed you in a cloud of bass...and i'm playing there again tonight hoohaar should be fun lol...

HI MY NAME IS FATTY AND I LIKE TO KNOCK THE DECKS
DO YOU HAVE THAT PORNSTAR TUNE
GOT ANYTHIN DEEP (Whilst playing calibre)
GOT ANY PENDULUM
GOT ANY CHASE AND STATUS
I have played a set where the headphone jack was broken
delay between the booth and the headphones was fucked

From my times at revolution:
people delibrately making the needles skip
people knocking the decks
people demanding to go through your tunes
asking for niche
asking for the song i played 2 minutes earlier

^^ Haha yeah i've had this before, was quite clearly playing a Dnb set and some wacko asked for that Rolex tune or something, but they came back like 3 times as if I magic'd a fucking tune outta no where!

Swings and roundabouts..

Haha I've had people ask me for miley ciris, I usually just tell them that ill play it in a couple songs so they stand there waiting and I just never play it haha.
