Pioneer DJM 600 master cue knob not working?

I purchased a Pioneer DJM 600 mixer today, and am having an issue with cueing, its probably just me being stupid!

The 'mixing' knob on the left works fine when cueing the channels you have selected with the cue buttons, but as you twist it to the right to 'master' there is no sound at all once the channel faders are up. Is there something wrong with the mixer or am I just being an idiot!?

press the headphone cue button above the master channel.

then as you twist the dial to the right you will hear more of the master channel
