I used to work at PC World and I can vouch that SOME of the staff know what they're on about. However a lot of people in the store I worked didn't even own computers so..

If you are going for a job there I would recommend being a sales advisor, easily the best wage going in that place! As long as you can sell!

Technicians job was easy though, sitting down most of the day putting graphics cards in and running virus scanners! You would prolly have to serve one or two customers, but it's the easy life.

The main annoyance is the training schemes, they arn't optional, and they are lonnnng!

I would imagine they meant it's not something they sell, but as I said in my above post some of them don't even own computers, so they don't have a clue about anything that's not mentioned on the show cards.

PC World is strictly for people who are buying their first computer, anyone with a clue would buy off the net or from a decent shop instead.

You would be surprised by the amount of second and third time buyers at PC World stores.

A mate of mine worked for them and rinsed the place dry.. Inhouse security was a joke, I'm not complaining mind :)

I manage a small independant computer shop, and I get 5+ people a day in complaining about PC World, but that's life, once you piss someone off, they ain't going back..

It's hard trying to sell decent quality laptops to people who don't know PC stuff, when they say they can buy a faster machine for £100 more new from PC World. After explaining to them Advent/Packard Bell machines are shite, they usually give in.

The one snidey trick is to openb the big fuck off safe where we keep all the customers machine in for repair. 40-50 clone PC world stylee lappies and about 3 Dell or equivalent, that usually closes the sale :slayer:
