    Hi all,

We have a radio station near to us that does really well and gets alot of listeners etc.. the only draw back of it is whatever dj is on the station has to pay a bit of money a month for there airtime slot, i know this is pretty standard for things like this as its to try get your naem out there.

Just wondered if anyone else has had to do this in the past? i really really enjoy it everyweek but somehow i feel like a twat having to pay each month for the air time and ' to keep the station runnin '.

Its hard to see the point until im there enjoying the set and have alot of listeners texting in etc.. problem is affording the fucker! also it is extremely good practice as really im doing a live gig everyweek just not infront of people. Its enough to get the nerves flowing a bit though and i think its bought my mixing along a nice amount. plus i cannot mix in my flat with the same energy and loudness as i can in studio.

Is it worth the money is what i think im trying to get at!!

    Thoughts?

I think only you can decide man. If you're getting an amount of listeners you're happy with and genuinely having a good time surely its worth it, i know how you feel though.. As soon as the internet station I was on starting charging i was gone, simply wasn't worth it.

Sounds like a bargain. Are you broadcasting to the people of Crawley?

Must be steep because it's a really nice studio. Have they recently had it refurbed or just moved in or something?

....but £25 a month for enjoying what you're doing, with what you've said, doesn't seem bad at all

Depending on how many listeners they get, i would say £50 for 8 hours air time seems reasonable.

If there were any stations round here doing that, i would probably pay tbh...

Doesn't sound to unfair, when you consider the running costs of places, plus paying PRS etc.
