The analog turntable will be completely rebuilt, Panasonic said, with new elements at every level. But it will also be designed to reflect the esteem in which the classic Technics turntables — the legendary SP10 and DJs' favourite SL-1200 turntables — are still held.

Unclear if they're making a turntable for audiophiles or a turntable for DJs
 
The price they sell each unit for will determine a lot about how serious they are about this product.

A direct emulation would surely lead to retail sale prices being similar to the original....a unit half the price must have half the quality, replacing metal with plastic etc.

Will the vinyl sales result in big clubs and events start sporting the new Technics as a standard?........Unlikely!
 
hopefully the finished prototype will have a tone arm.
Didn't even realise it didn't have a tonearm until now lol

Also I really hope they hide the interior stuff better instead of having it stick out underneath like that... those 4 legs remind me of something from Ikea :teeth:
