optical/coaxial spdif to balanced XLR

not.

You'll need a converter between there. Because spdif is digital and xlr is analog, you can't route a signal directly from on e to the other. Something like Behinger Ultramatch will do if you want to go cheap. Unless you have some strange xlr digital in connection...

thanks looks like the behringer ultramatch would be fine. at that price though i might just buy a sound card with balanced outputs anyway.mmm

just to clear things, this is just a spdif to AES cable. is digital, to connect a converter with AES connection to a spdif soundcard. so it wont do anything if you plug it from an analogue XLR to spdif, you need an AD or DA converter.

yeah i know i was hoping that somewhere in the fatness of the cable there was a tiny DA circuit or something. looking at E-MU Tracker Pre now, anyone had some experience with it or suggest something better
