Opinions on software controllers/interfaces?

Was thinking about buying one of these to plug into the laptop, being a student and poor, such as the Numark Total Control http://www.numark.com/totalcontrol

Any one know of any other good controllers or have any opinions on these types on interfaces and how they compare to normal decks/cd decks?
