Just wondering how many people prefer online shopping, or in store?

I think the nearest record shop to me is around a 2-3 hour drive, a decent one anyways.. so i pretty much always shop online.

when i go to london or anywhere like that, i make it a point to stop in a shop. think the feedback you get from some people working there is great, and you can have a feel of the vinyl yourself, sometimes even get them to play it on the sound system for you.

can be a bit more expensive though.

also i can never pick anything online.

but when i see a tune in the flesh i wanna buy it lol

also down at banquet they have brief little desriptions on some of the tunes which is nice
 
The record shop that I usually go to is closing at the end of the month :( So online shopping may take priority...cheaper as well.
 
I live out in the sticks and I lost my driving license a few months ago, so online is pretty much my only option. If I get the chance to shop in store though, I will.
 
In store. No question.

Used to love popping up the local record store even if i didn't buy anything. I really miss my local shop.Closed down :(

Granted online has more choice, but you don't get the vibe of a shop & the banter, advice, rumours of what labels artists etc are up to.
 
i do agree with going to record shops and the atmosphere there for sure.

just a shame the only one that opened here a few years back failed in around 2 months due to lack of sales.
 
Definitly instore

I have only ever ordered two vinyls online and they were from Hospital (Sale) for £1.50 each

I would consider buying online if there is a record that I want which I can't get instore/ordered to a store

But I just love going into a store and listening to stuff. Me being me though I pick out things I like the cover artwork of and see what it sounds like, of course I always ask for a selection of good tracks too to have a listen!
 
Both have pros and cons.

Online stores have way more choice and good chances for you to find those back catalogue gems you've been searching for. Downside is that you have to wait for a few days before you receive your purchase, and with the added postage, it can be a bit more expensive, plus there's a risk that the vinyl has been damaged in the post.

In store record shops don't usually carry too much of a selection, unless they are a specialist store like Blackmarket or Hard To Find, but if you don't live in London or Birmingham you're gonna have to travel. The plus side is you get to have the vinyl in your hand, check it for warps or damage, listen to it on the turntable before you buy. And the whole digging through the records, coming across a gem, that feeling.
 
instore is better.
but itll a have to be online for me now as theres no record shops near me at all!

my record shop was the bollocks used to jus sit in there thru lunch on college lisnin to tunes an smokin!lol
 
i end up buying some rough ass tunes in shops - i mean when i get home i think Why did i buy this shitpiece? - spur of the moment like

now i shop online, take my time, check youtube for audio and end up with tunes that i actually want

I've done exactly the same and decided that online was the way forward.

Plus records cost around £7:00 - £8.00 each in stores. I easily spend around £40 - £60 a month on records and the money goes further online..

I order mainly from redeye and 9 out of 10 times they arrive the following day (sometimes when I've placed the order at 5pm)
