Ok, does anyone know what makes oldskool drums sound oldskool?
Is it specific samples, or is it a few FX (I'm guessing reverb or maybe distortion, but I'm not really sure). I know that they get pitchshifted occasionally, and that's a technique I'd like to use but I'm not sure what else to do.
I'm not really looking at specific examples, I don't want to exactly re-create the break from 'terminator'.
I also don't want to spend money on hardware if I can help it, so I might use samples if they're necessary.
