In the late 90s and early 00s, there was a group that encoded/shared mp3s I believe almost exclusively of drum & bass. Basically, if you got an mp3 of a dnb/jungle release, it was likely their rip.
Anyone recall the name of the group? I believe it was SOUR.
Got my interest piqued by this article on general music being ripped and shared:
