    well what's everyone's thoughts?

personally, I think that banning injured people from getting healthcare for taking part in a perfectly legal activity (i.e. Drinking on a Friday/saturday night) is morally wrong and whilst at first seems to be a good proposal, after some thought it isn't actually workable and would most likely increase the workload of NHS staff...

So yeah... let it all out and Mass-Debate.

    oh yeah, inb4 op's a fag.

My view on it is, people should be discouraged from drinking that heavily in the first place, don't see the appeal of getting THAT drunk? Do people do it on purpose? It's only a nuisance to everyone else if they're out on the town, in the privacy of your own home, do what you like.

But no, you can't deny people healthcare because they're pissed, that just wouldn't work.

Just because somebodies pissed, doesn't mean that's the reason they're there.

Also, NHS staff can't do a background check on peoples behaviour and what they've been doing that night before deciding if they deserve treatment or not.

    Stupid discussion is fucking stupid.

also they should ban the following injuries from NHS treatment...

    Boxing related
    Motor Racing
    Sky Diving
    Horse riding
    Swimming
    Rock Climbing
    Tree Climbing
    Sports of all kinds
    Martial Arts

they are all activities which serve no purpose and pose great risks to the individual, society, and your children

infact, they should be Class A punishable by death

what would be better is if they hired more staff or atleast some staff that speak english! dont get me wrong NHS do a wonderful service but its hard to explain something to someone who doesnt really understand you..

They seem to get so many basic little things wrong thats the problem but on a whole i would rather have them about then not.

@miszt - ban Martial arts?? we all need to get our jackie chan on sometimes mate - you know that! ;)

... pm the point I was trying to make, it wouldn't work and is, if anything, a policy that sounds like the product of The Sun newspaper or the daily mail looking for a headline on a slow news-day. however, some people still insist on saying it, but when asked and talked to about it they realise that it isn't workable.

the point I'm trying to make is that too many people are quick to judge and not enough are willing to stop and think.

and also leave out the 'stupid discussion' shit, its just a debate on a public forum about an idea and its feasibility with an undercurrent of a discussion about the general public's collective reaction to events and problems that face this country. :2thumbs:

Interesting stastistic, 1 in 6 cases in the NHS is caused by self-inflicted stuff, like drugs or alcohol.

It is a fucking enormous drain on the limited funding the NHS has, and the only workable solution i can think of would be you get some sort of strike card, on your xth visit to A&E for drinking too much you don't get help.
Of course, what about the people who have problems, and try to quit drinking but can't. Its all shades of gray

people should be trained in school. start them off at the age of 6 with gay WKD's, by the time they leave at 16 they should be able to drink Special Brew like it was water. Imagine it, the only class that every kid would turn up to is double drinking on Monday morning...

Alcohols shit anyway. Anyone that goes into hospital for drinking too much should be layed on their back so they can choke on their own vomit.

    :)
