Yeah hi fi's seem to accentuate lower frequencies. Bass pleases people.
Accentuates the highs as well, and cuts the mids normally. It's called a smile EQ or something as I recall. Part of it is because our hearing is better at those frequencies, which corresponds roughly to the frequencies of human voices I believe
