Neurofunk

their's a pretty heated discussion about that in the wikipedia entry. I'd read that.

I see it as defined by early Virus stuff. Minimal, dark, funk.
 
yeah check the artists mentioned here to get an idea, also Cause4Concern.
I think some people use 'neurofunk' and 'techstep' quite interchangeably (just to confuse things), or perhaps to them it is an extension of the techstep from the mid-late 90s. I dont see it that way, but woteva ... like all things there are diffrent opinions.

I'd just check the artists, also Black Sun Empire.. I reckon the 'nuero' comes about because when done well it has quite a psychedelic brain-changing effect, as opposed to a lot of dnb which is more body-driven. Not to say it sounds like trance though, lord help us. I saw Calyx on Saturday and he played a bit of stuff I'd put broadly in that category ...
