DnB Neurofunk stabby sounds?

Im not sure how to describe the sound im on about so ill post an example:

The sound can be heard first properly at 59 secs. Kind of like the sounds used in constantcomplexrhythmic sound by rockwell. Im basically wondering if anyone has any thoughts about the process behind making said sound, ive tried messing around in massive a lot but cant seem to get close to what i want. Im not asking for an exact answer as im sure it took mefjus a long time to get the sound himself, just some ideas that i could direct my experimentation with! safe if anyone replies!

When you mention the envelope, do i apply this to the lpf's cutoff? or assing it anywhere else?
