    Ez Troops,

    Right,

I own a 2002 Renault Clio and i have just recently been havin a problem.

when i try to start it in the morning the engine and everything turns over when i turn the key, all the electrics are fine and everything it just doesnt kick in and start.

now if i give it a push it starts, then it will be fine for the rest of the day until i leave it over night again then its refuses to go in the morning again.

i think it could be my spark plugs but to be quite honest i really dont have a clue, i am not clued up on cars to be honest and any help would be greatly appreciated.

plus if it is the spark plugs how much do ya reckon it will cost to get it sorted?

    Cheers folks.

right i know exactly what the problem is. I had a clio, Ethix wrote it off but i cant be bothered to explain that now.

i had the same problem and was told it WAS the battery... bought a new one and never had the trouble again. (Well clio was brand new so i got it changed for free but the dude said its a common problem with the model)

I had the same problem wiv my golf, its definetly the battery got nothing to do wiv the alternater cause if it was the car would cut out while driving. i changed the battery and it all worked fine, my problem was exactly the same, every time i started it i had to jump it, an if i left it for ages without driving it wouldnt start up. Trust me/my mechanic mates (who help fixed the problem) get the battery changed an it will solve your probs, no need to shell out on a service. safe!

could it still be the battery even tho the battery light does not pop up at all? plus, this has been happening for a while, it just sometimes sorts its self out for a bit then start bein a cunt when it feels like.

yea man cause if u drive it round for ages you'll be chargin up the battery, so next time u start it it'll work, but if you leave it it'll loose power an then not have enough energy to spark the starter motor. i was convinced it was summin else too, until i changed the battery an i havent had problems since. Halfords 40quid, fit it urself, its piss easy! solved!

I've got a 51 plate clio, had v similar problems, changed the battery and it jumped into life - i'd defo check out a new battery. Sure an AA guy told me one time when i'd called him out (drained battery listning to radio without engine running:rolleyes:) that the factory fitted batteries they put in these are the lowest power/worst they can get away with.

Also, if you're not that great with mechanics or a contortionist, it can be a pain - i got halfords to fit mine, and had a good chuckle when it took the bloke 30mins to fit in properly, after i'd paid £3.50 or whatever for the fitting. Engine spare in these is so cramped and fiddly.
