I listened to the first two in the player while I was busty doing some shopping on the web. ?????BUsty, I wish. BUSY.
Anyway, I like your ideas but it didn't quite get me skanking. I think it was the drums not quite powerful enough, prob just an eq/mix thing.
But yeah, I like the way you use the samples and was that mr R. Manuva I heard?
Sorry, half arsed listen, half arsed reply.

When I saw the thread I thought we were discussing a Prince track =P

Anyhow i ran it through a time or two and here's some thoughts, for whatever it's worth.

The drums we're solid, but sounded a bit... flat is the word I want maybe? Needs some more pop and definition in your rhythms. I'm not a fan of the 'machine gun' snare effect. Always like the robot voices =D. Not sure how I feel about the trancy melody.

Overall it was a good track. It's not my style but with some tightening here and there and maybe some tuning it could be nice and solid.

    Hey Matt.
    Some quick thoughts:
The inital synth/melody could do with some more sustain maybe to soften the note changes?

Like the concept of the tune, naming the elements of a track (and the link to the title; musicology) etc.. nice idea.

    Love the strings @ 2:12

Drums seems a bit gutless and really need sharpening up imho.
It rolls along nicely enough, just needs more oomph. :)
