I used to have an 40Gb Apple iPod 3rd Gen which worked fine for the time I had it. I now require another MP3 player which only has 1-2Gb storage, is small, works well both on it's own and with a Windows XP machine, and preferably has a screen.

I like the new Apple iPod Shuffle (tiny clip on one) but having no screen is a little off putting.

Can anyone else recommend anything else?

I live in the UK so having it available here is a definite bonus :teeth:

(Oh, I don't want this thread to be an Apple hate thread!)

Yep, Logikz is on about a Muvo. Or you could get a Zen, also Creative - but with a screen.

Have you considered Sony? They sound great, but only work with Sonicstage software. The new version is much faster than previous ones.

Piece of ****. I refuse to buy Sony after my minidiscs with Sonic Stage software.

well that's your opinion. I also used the old clunky sonicstage with a net MD & nearly gave up the will to live but these days use version 4.2 with my mp3 walkman which is vastly improved & much quicker imo. You can also transfer mp3,wav & aac files without conversion so no need to convert files to the substandard atrac format - although this is still useful when ripping mix cds as you get gapless playback.

    Do tell me more! :teeth:

That said, I have been looking at Creative's players from logikz recommendation and they look pretty damn good! The idea of being able to record into it (line in) is a real bonus, although the one I like records in WMA only which is a bit gay.

    What kind of fiddling?

When you record in, are you limited to WMA?

    Do you recommend anything else?
